Jul 2024 to present

My side hustle and my sharpening stone. Between and around contracts I dial into Glencoco campaigns, where every meeting is reviewed and accepted by the client before it pays, and the buyers are some of the hardest to reach anywhere: C-suite and founders at companies from owner-run firms to US$1B+ Fortune 1000 enterprises. It keeps a couple of things running at once and the cold-call edge sharp.

Where I learned the craft

From a former manager

"The kind of agent every sales leader dreams of having on their team. As my top performer, he combined relentless drive with strategic thinking to deliver consistent, high-value results. His persistence, adaptability, and skill in closing made him a force on the sales floor and a huge contributor to our team's success."

The story

Why Australia and New Zealand, and why a setter seat

Perth time is home

My partner and I live permanently in the Perth time zone, and our first child arrives in early 2027. We are putting down roots here. I want a long-term sales career with a company that serves Australia and New Zealand, not another contract worked through the night on US hours. A job on the same clock as my family is the point of this move.

Why a setter seat

It is a new market, and I would rather earn the closer's chair here than ask for it on arrival. I have been a top closer and a top setter, and I know from both chairs what a good set looks like and what it is worth to the closer. Give me the setter seat and a scoreboard, and I will earn my way up the same way I have everywhere else: from the top of the board.

What a team gets

  • On time, every time.
  • Honest. I will not book, or sell, someone the program will not help.
  • Competitive with myself first, and collaborative. At Clearest Health I found and tested the phone and texting tool Quo, and the whole company moved to it.
  • Coachable. I run the script I am given, improve it from call review, and share what works.
  • Still learning: call reviews, coaching, and AI tools for sales.

I've succeeded in every version of this job, so you can count on me in yours

Whatever your leads look like, I have already worked that format and finished at the top of the board doing it.

Clearest Health

Sales Development Representative (SDR)

Apr 2026 to Sep 2026 · Contract · Remote

Healthcare tech backed by Y Combinator, the investor behind Airbnb and Stripe. Venture-funded, New York.

How it ended: my choice, in September 2026, after I learned I was going to be a father. The role meant US hours worked through the night, indefinitely. The full answer is in the FAQ.

Cold called surgeons and independent practice owners who had made no enquiry, qualified each against the company's criteria, booked them with the closing team and confirmed by email and text.

The record, in the company's own numbers

  • Booked through pushback. 74 of 84 appointments came on calls with at least one objection, and "send me some info" became a booking 44% of the time.
  • Followed up until it booked. 50 of 84 appointments came from prospects called before, one after 31 touches over 95 days. Sent reminders by email and text, with separate versions for committed, lukewarm and repeat-reschedule prospects.
  • Qualified and showed. 96% of booked appointments qualified and 73.2% showed, all booked by cold calling.
  • Top of the board. First or tied-first on the weekly appointments leaderboard in 9 of 10 full calling weeks from June to August, booking 41% of the team's appointments across the contract.
  • Same leads, more appointments. On identical lead lists, 3 to 10 times more appointments per dial than teammates, and 67% of pickups became real conversations against 56% for the other four reps.
  • Volume when it counted. About 105 dials on a full calling day and up to 247, with 20 appointments a month from June to August.

How I protect the show

  1. Qualify and confirm on the call. Readiness, timing, financial readiness and who else needs to be in the room. The time is agreed before I hang up and the invite goes out while we are still talking.
  2. Reminders that fit the person. Email and text reminders with separate versions for committed, lukewarm and repeat-reschedule prospects. On the day: an email an hour before, texts 30 and 5 minutes before.
  3. Handover notes for the closer. Backstory, what was discussed, what was promised and what will make it close, in the CRM before the call starts.

High-Ticket Closer

Sep 2025 to Mar 2026 · Contract · Remote

A coaching company for business owners. US$7K to $12K business coaching program, sold over consultative Zoom calls.

How it ended: the program wound down after the marketing stopped producing; the closing team was reduced until no closers remained, and I was among the last to leave.

Michael Largo on a live Zoom call for ADHD Tools, with his name and title, Enrollment Coach, on the branded background
On a live Zoom call with a prospect, December 2025: the record-setting day of four enrolments.

Ran 45 to 60 minute Zoom sales calls with business owners from warm inbound leads. With no setter on the team, did my own qualifying, follow-up and rebooking.

The record, in the company's own numbers

  • Number one closer of 2025, on both measures. Close rate is enrolments per live call held: 33%, the highest on the team for the year. Enrolment rate is enrolments per lead assigned, including the leads who never showed for a call, so it always reads lower: 20.41% of every lead assigned for 2025 against 12% across seven other closers, and 33% of the last 60 leads on the founder's October 2025 scorecard against 20% for the next closer.
  • Company record: four enrolments in one day, all paid in full, from four calls: US$31,000 in revenue (Dec 2025).
  • Six enrolments in a week (week ending 13 Dec 2025), double the next closer on the company stack ranking.
  • A US$12K paid-in-full close was used in company training to show how the sale was closed (Feb 2026).
  • Generated US$399K in revenue from 49 enrolments, about US$4,600 per day worked.

Indiana Business Advisors

Sales Development Representative (SDR)

Jun 2025 to Nov 2025 · Contract · Remote

Business brokerage.

How it ended: a fixed contract in a small market; the pool of eligible businesses in Indiana thinned out and the campaign closed. I moved into the closer seat at ADHD Tools.

Cold called owners of established businesses, qualified them and booked meetings with senior brokers.

  • Top of the weekly leaderboard after three weeks, with six qualified appointments, three times the next rep. President's Club after the first month.
  • Built the phone, email and text confirmation routine that held an 87.5% show rate for July 2025.

Origin story

How a computer science student from Miami became a salesman

Nobody plans to be the sales guy. I found out I was one by accident, walked away from it twice, and then built a career on it. Here is the short version.

2018The first clue

Emporio Armani at Bloomingdale's Sales Specialist

I walked into the store in a suit with no retail or sales experience, asked for the manager, and was hired on the spot. Before the three-month probation was over I had set a store record for the most high-ticket shirts in a single transaction (10) and finished first of about 20 reps in the department for credit accounts opened. I did not know what to call it yet, but it was clear I had a natural talent for sales.

Aug 2023 to Apr 2024The turning point

Hypermax Founder

I built a digital marketing agency from nothing and ran every part of it myself: finding the leads, cold calling business owners, closing them, delivering the work and keeping the accounts, with a perfect five-star streak on Trustpilot to show for it. Somewhere in the middle of it I noticed something I could not un-notice. The only part of the business I loved was the selling: making the call, earning the yes. Everything else was a chore. So I made the decision that changed my life. I closed that chapter and committed, completely, to a career in remote sales.

This is where remote sales started for me.

Apr 2024 to Jul 2024Starting from the bottom

NexRep Inbound Sales Representative

My first remote sales job, and the bottom rung: inbound direct-response TV sales, a script, a headset, and contractor pay that worked out below minimum wage. After training I had the highest conversion rate in the company every week, and a 47.5% upsell rate in May 2024.

Weekly report, May 2024: first on both lists, including the top conversion rate on third-party offers.
Jul 2024 to presentWhere I became a great SDR

Glencoco Independent Sales Development Representative

Glencoco is a pay-per-appointment marketplace, and its training arm, Remote Sales Nation, is where I learned cold calling properly: world-class training, call review as a daily habit, and some of the best script writers in the industry working the same floor. The buyers are some of the hardest there are: C-suite executives, VPs, directors and founders at companies from mid-market to US$1B+ Fortune 1000 enterprises, across banking, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, telecom, software and energy infrastructure, who take calls from nobody. Every meeting is reviewed by the client before it counts. I still dial there between contracts, because it is the best gym in the sport.

Education, training and licence

New tools come quickly to me: I studied computer science and built websites for a living before sales. Call recordings, dialer exports and referees available on request.

What managers and colleagues say

In their words

Questions you may have

Straight answers

Why hire someone outside Australia?

Because I am on your clock permanently. I live in the Perth time zone and work the full Australian and New Zealand business day without anyone adjusting around me. The numbers above were earned on harder calls than warm inbound: surgeons who had never heard of the company, 96% of whom qualified and 73% of whom showed. And as a contractor I bring no payroll, superannuation or leave to administer.

Is this a long-term move or a stopgap?

Long-term. My partner and I are settled in the Perth time zone and our first child is due in early 2027. I am looking for a company that serves Australia and New Zealand where I can stay, build a track record and grow. This is the career that will support my family for years to come, and I want to build it with one team.

You have closed before. Why do you want a setter seat?

It is a new market, and I would rather earn the closer's chair than ask for it. I have been a top closer and a top setter, so I know from both sides what a good set looks like and what it is worth to the closer. The setter seat is where I can prove that fastest on your offer and your leads. When the path to closing opens, I intend to have earned it on the scoreboard.

Your record is US cold calling. Will it carry over to warm Australian leads?

The craft is the same: reach the person fast, qualify properly, book, confirm, show. I have done it warm at volume (Clearlink, 8 to 10 hours a day on inbound insurance calls; NexRep, inbound) and cold at the hardest end (surgeons who had not enquired, 73% show). I expect a learning curve on local idiom and the offer, not on the work. I have lived and worked across several countries and grew up between two cultures, so adapting to a new room is familiar ground.

How do we engage and pay you? Is it complicated?

No. I work as a contractor through my own business entity and invoice monthly; you pay by bank transfer or Wise, in AUD or USD. For a non-resident contractor working outside Australia there is normally no payroll, PAYG withholding, superannuation or leave for you to administer, the same as any overseas supplier (your accountant will confirm the specifics). If you prefer to run it through an Employer of Record, that works too.

Your tenures are short. Why?

The honest answer is that none of them ended because of my numbers, and the last one ended because my life changed.

  • NexRep, 2024. Contractor pay that worked out below minimum wage. I proved myself, then left for the first real opportunity.
  • Clearlink, 2024 to 2025. I was in training for a supervisor role when the entire insurance division was shut down: a verifiable mass layoff event, searchable on LinkedIn.
  • Indiana Business Advisors, 2025. A fixed contract in a small market. The pool of eligible businesses in Indiana is limited, the lead list thinned out and the campaign closed. I moved into the closer seat at ADHD Tools.
  • ADHD Tools, 2025 to 2026. The program wound down. The owner was open that the marketing had stopped producing, and the closing team was reduced step by step until no closers remained. I was among the last to leave.
  • Clearest Health, 2026. The hardest one to leave, because I put everything into it and became very good at it. Then I found out I was going to be a father. Staying meant working US hours through the night indefinitely, on a pay ceiling that cannot support a family, in a team too small to ever have a closer's seat.

So this move is about stability. A first baby on the way, a job on my family's clock, and a company serving the ANZ market that I can truly invest in, with room to grow. That is the seat I am looking for, and it is why I will not be looking around once I have it.

What hours do you work?

The full Australian and New Zealand business day, Perth through to Auckland. If your lead flow runs into the evening, that is a conversation I am open to.

Can we hear you on the phone before an interview?

Yes. Request the recordings from either role section above: a cold set with a physician, and a closer call over Zoom. Requests are answered within 12 hours, usually much faster. Referees are available on request.

How fast do you ramp, and how coachable are you?

At Clearest Health my first set came on day 11 and I was top of the weekly board by week four. At Indiana Business Advisors I made President's Club in the first month. On coaching: I run the script I am given, improve it from call review with data, and share what works; at Clearest Health the team adopted the opener that came out of that process.

Which CRMs and tools have you used?

HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Orum, Trellus, Zoom, Quo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and Apollo. New tools come quickly to me: I studied computer science and built websites for a living before sales.
